Started by WWF and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment, engaging millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories. It has become a catalyst for positive environmental impact, driving major legislative changes by harnessing the power of the people. The City of Red Deer will be celebrating Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential lights in City facilities. You are encouraged to join by turning off your lights at home and taking time to reflect on how you can reduce your environmental impact in your daily activities. Need an idea? Play games by candlelight; have an acoustic jam session; host a candlelit dinner; go for a walk; stargaze.
