Event Description

Making Art History is a 2-part micro-art and history class. The first class starts with a brief lesson on art movements or artists in history (as well as contemporary artists). The second class will occur the following week, and we’ll focus on completing our projects while enjoying a lively discussion about the themes and techniques we’ve been exploring!

This month’s Making Art History presents An Art History of Cats

Throughout history, cats have captured artists’ imaginations and held symbolic meanings in different societies. This month’s class will focus on investigating some questions about what art featuring cats can tell us! We will encounter zany Medieval cats with little man faces and probe the reasons they look like that. We’ll look at ancient sculptures depicting feline deities, as well as some contemporary artists whose work features cats.

Classes run May 6 & 13 from 6-8 pm. Registration covers both classes. All supplies included.
