Family Lantern Parade and Workshop

Join us for an evening of lantern making and a parade! The evening begins with a lesson in how to make your own paper lantern at the Hub on Ross from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. before the main event of a lantern walk down Ross Street to City Hall Park. At City Hall Park, relax and bask in the glow of your lanterns as you enjoy live music, stilt walker performances, and free hot chocolate (keep it green and bring your own mug). Visit the White Gallery on Ross for some creative inspiration before and after the event, where giant sculptural lanterns created by artists from Red Deer’s own Lindsay Thurber High School, and St Joseph High Schools will be on display. The lantern artists will be joining us for the walk with their sculptures to light the way to the park. This is a free to attend event, with all supplies provided.

Nuit Blanche Winter Carnival

The Nuit Blanche Winter Carnival will be a free, family friendly event where anyone & everyone is encouraged to actively participate in Winter Carnival and art based activities and games. This all ages event will feature an obstacle course, giant puzzles, frozen bubbles, log sawing contest, storytelling and theatre/improv. Join us at City Hall Park, Little Gaetz Avenue, and Veterans Park and visit nearby businesses which are also participating in the festival by hosting/showcasing local musicians and artisans selling their works.
