December 2025Indigenous Winter Solstice Storytime
ALL AGES WELCOME! Registration not required.
Immerse yourself in the enchanting tales of the Indigenous Winter Solstice. Gather around as we share stories that honor the deep connection between Indigenous communities and the changing seasons, fostering an appreciation for nature and heritage.
Meet our special guest, Theresa “Corky” Larsen-Jonasson. Corky will introduce us to her traditions of winter storytelling.
Theresa "Corky" Larsen-Jonasson is a proud Cree/Danish Métis Elder with roots in Red Deer and Maskwacis First Nations. She lives her life according to the traditional Indigenous teachings that saved her life. These teachings flow from her parents, her 93-year-old Kokom, Christine Joseph of Cochrane, aunties, uncles, as well as from the Goodstrikers, Williams, and John Crier families, all of whom she loves immensely.

February 2026Skijoring Westerner Park
What is Skijoring, you ask?
It’s a snowy mash-up where a skier clips into their skis, grabs a towline, and gets whisked across the snow by a horse (or even a dog!).
At its heart, skijoring is all about teamwork and speed. We can’t wait to bring this experience to a venue where everything fun and western is brought to life! Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or brave enough to try it out, it’s one of those “only in winter” thrills that makes the season unforgettable. Perfect for anyone who loves snow, animals, and a little bit of controlled chaos.
Race Divisions include Novice & Open, and we can’t forget the exhilarating BIG AIR segment of the show!
