Opening Ceremony - “A Celebration of Moments”

The Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer celebrates moments. Dynamic, memorable moments are weaved into a variety show that not only welcomes the athletes but also celebrates the community. Each segment of the show captures a moment that celebrates the values of the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Nuit Blanche Winter Carnival

The Nuit Blanche Winter Carnival will be a free, family friendly event where anyone & everyone is encouraged to actively participate in Winter Carnival and art based activities and games. This all ages event will feature an obstacle course, giant puzzles, frozen bubbles, log sawing contest, storytelling and theatre/improv. Join us at City Hall Park, Little Gaetz Avenue, and Veterans Park and visit nearby businesses which are also participating in the festival by hosting/showcasing local musicians and artisans selling their works.

Closing Ceremony - “Now Is Your Time”

The Closing Ceremony of the 2019 Canada Winter Games is a celebration of the athletes. This is a bold, unique show, setting a new standard for the Canada Games Closing Ceremony. The Canada Games uphold a longstanding tradition of welcoming, cultivating and showcasing athleticism and team spirit in Canada’s youth. The Closing Ceremony reflects this tradition by inspiring the best and brightest of Canada’s youth in sport. This high-energy show is packed with inspirational moments, grand musical performances and athlete interaction. The athletes are given a spectacular send-off from Red Deer, motivating young athletes across the country to celebrate the amazing legacy of sport in Canada.

Central Alberta Children's Festival

The Central Alberta’s Children Festival aims to promote the benefits and values of the performing arts not just by showing children and families the entertainment but by also getting them involved at the lowest cost possible. Over 40 tents and activity stations fill the park each year to keep everyone active and keep their imaginations running. Stations include bubble wrap popping, Science World, Diversity Corner, face painting, fun physical activities and more. All of these stations allow children and families the opportunity to be creative, build knowledge and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
